Wheelchair Accessible Destinations for Labor Day Weekend

labor day travel

Labor Day is just around the corner. It’s the unofficial end of summer and a time to honor America’s workers and reflect on how they make our country run. And what better way to celebrate it than planning a fun and memorable trip with your family or friends? Whether you’re visiting an accessible destination or looking for one, here are some wheelchair-accessible destinations that will be ideal for relaxing Labor Day travel.

San Antonio, TX

San Antonio is a great place to plan a rejuvenating Labor Day trip. It is well-known for the historic Alamo, the famous Emily Morgan Hotel, and the picturesque River Walk, and it is also an excellent choice for those who have mobility concerns. The city started improving wheelchair accessibility in the 1980s and continues to make improvements, such as building more accessible pathways and removing barriers.

In addition to its historical significance, the city is also home to Morgan’s Wonderland, the first truly accessible theme park. All the rides and attractions here have been designed to accommodate visitors with mobility issues. Entry is free for people with disabilities, but you must bring your own wheelchairs, as the park does not rent them.
